SportsLink Travel is proud to announce a new partnership with Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ), with SportsLink recognised as the Official Travel Supplier of LA QLD. For the first time, Queensland’s Little Athletics community has its own stand-alone travel partnership, building on the support SportsLink previously provided under the national Little Athletics Australia arrangement.
The partnership gives LAQ, its clubs and its families a dedicated sports travel team for every trip, from regional carnivals to the Australian Little Athletics Championships, while returning value to the Little Athletics programs that keep young Queenslanders on the track.
Travel support built for Little Athletics families
Little Athletics is a family sport: the motto itself is Family, Fun and Fitness. When a young athlete attends a regional carnival, qualifies for the State Championship or a national event, parents, siblings and grandparents travel too. That means group flights, rooms near the venue and plans that can change the week before competition.
SportsLink specialises in exactly this kind of travel: group bookings planned around team selections and competition schedules, with one point of contact when plans change. LAQ staff and team managers work with a travel team that already knows how junior sport runs.
Every booking supports Little Athletics programs in Queensland
This partnership is designed to give back. A share of the travel booked through SportsLink is returned to Little Athletics Queensland to reinvest in athletics programs, coaching and community initiatives across the state.
Families and supporters who book their own travel through SportsLink add to that return. Every trip, from a weekend carnival to a national championship, helps strengthen the sport back home. The more the community travels together, the more comes back to Queensland athletics.
Supporting the pathway from club to championships
Little Athletics Queensland’s calendar takes young athletes from local club meets to the Australian Little Athletics Championships and even overseas for the annual New Zealand Development Tour. SportsLink will support LAQ teams, officials and families across that whole pathway, including development tours and supporter travel for family and friends cheering from the stands.
SportsLink already works across Australian athletics, giving the sport consistent travel expertise from grassroots programs to national teams and championships. It also continues a busy season of partnerships across Australian sport, following recent announcements with Baseball WA and Softball Victoria.
From both sides
“Little Athletics is where so many Australian sporting stories begin. SportsLink are thrilled to partner directly with Little Athletics Queensland and make travel easier and more affordable for the families behind every young athlete. The best part is that every trip booked through the partnership puts something back into Little Athletics in Queensland.”
Shane Tonkin, Commercial Manager, SportsLink Travel
“We are excited to build upon our past arrangements with SportsLink Travel. Over the past couple of years they have helped our team immensely to reduce the stress and workload required to move people across our state, and beyond. And now, we are excited to have these benefits flow onto our members too.”
Christopher Davis, Chief Executive Officer, Little Athletics Queensland
