SportsLink Travel is proud to announce its appointment as the official sports travel provider for Water Polo Australia, marking a return of a founding partnership that first began at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
The partnership will see SportsLink Travel manage travel logistics for all Water Polo Australia teams and events through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, including national teams, support staff, families, and supporters.
For SportsLink Travel, this announcement represents a meaningful reunion with one of the sports that helped establish the company’s reputation as a sports travel provider. The relationship began in 2004 when SportsLink Travel coordinated travel for a group of water polo families attending the Athens Games, subsequently evolving into a formal tour partnership that ran successfully until 2016.
Paul Kelly, CEO of SportsLink Travel, said the partnership was a natural fit given the company’s deep experience with aquatic sports and the water polo community.
“Water Polo was one of the first sports we ever worked with, so coming back into a formal partnership feels like reconnecting with an old friend,” Mr Kelly said.
“We’ve got 20 years of experience in this space now, and we understand what athletes, teams and their families need when they’re travelling for competition. It’s not just about flights and accommodation—it’s about the entire experience, from arrival to departure.“
The partnership covers a comprehensive calendar of events including the annual Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, the 2026 World Cup finals in Sydney, the 2027 FINA World Championships in Budapest, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
SportsLink Travel will also manage travel for domestic and international tours for all Water Polo Australia national teams, plus coordinate group travel opportunities for families and supporters wishing to follow the teams.
The company plans to release special travel packages and offers for the water polo community in the coming days, with initial packages focused on the upcoming Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.
“We’re excited to get started and to help the water polo community get where they need to be, whether that’s a domestic championship in Australia or a major event on the world stage,” Mr Kelly said.
