For one weekend this December, the Gold Coast becomes the home of Australian hockey. The Hockey One Finals 2026 hit the Gold Coast Hockey Centre on 5 and 6 December. Eight teams go head to head for a men’s and a women’s national title. Two days. Four semi-finals. Two trophies decided on Sunday.

The Hockey One Finals 2026 Come to the Gold Coast
This is a first. The Hockey One Finals Series has never come to the Gold Coast, and in 2026 it lands at the Gold Coast Hockey Centre in Labrador, the same blue turf that staged hockey at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Saturday 5 December is semi-final day. Sunday 6 December decides the champions. And in early summer on the coast, the evenings stay warm and light long after the final whistle.
The Teams Chasing the Title
Eight teams are in the hunt for the 2026 title, across both the men’s and women’s competitions:

- Brisbane Blaze
- Canberra Chill
- HC Melbourne
- Melbourne Cobras (new for 2026)
- NSW Pride
- Perth Thundersticks
- Tassie Tigers
The Cobras arrive as the eighth team this year, which deepens the field and makes the title race harder to call than ever. The regular season wraps up on 22 November, when the top four teams in each competition earn their place in the finals. Book now, and you can back your team as those spots lock in.
Win the Ultimate VIP Experience
Book early and you could upgrade the whole trip for nothing. Pay your deposit before 25 October 2026, and your name goes into the draw for a VIP Experience for two.
The prize adds VIP tickets, grandstand seats, food and drinks at the venue, and return flights on top of your package. Grandstand seating is strictly limited this year, so get in early. You earn one entry for every deposit, so the sooner you commit, the sooner you are in the running.
Getting There Is the Easy Part
Fly in from anywhere in the country. Gold Coast Airport sits about 30 minutes from the venue, and Brisbane Airport is an easy hour up the M1. Better still, you never have to plan a single transfer yourself.

Beyond the Hockey: Make a Weekend of It
The hockey fills two days, and the Gold Coast fills the rest. The beaches sit minutes from the action, with Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach forming the busy heart of the strip. Children aged 12 and under enter the finals free on general admission, so it makes an easy family weekend too.
December on the coast is warm, with daytime temperatures usually around 25 to 29 degrees. Pack light clothes, sunscreen and a hat, and keep a light jacket handy for the odd afternoon shower. When the final whistle blows, here are the experiences we would book around the finals. A tip from us: the short activities fit neatly into match day mornings, but the hinterland day trips deserve a day of their own. Tandem and Triple Parasailing | 1.5 hours | From A$99
Up over the Broadwater on a tandem or triple flight, with the skyline behind you. It is quick, easy and a good one for nervous first-timers.
Into the Hinterland
Twenty minutes inland, the high-rises give way to rainforest and waterfalls. Chase cascades and wild kangaroos through Springbrook National Park, watch glow worms light up the dark, or graze the cellar doors and distilleries of Mount Tamborine. It is a different Gold Coast entirely, and well worth the drive.
