SPORTSLINK TRAVEL, NZ RUGBY TOUR SOUTH AMERICA, SEPTEMBER 2020: Itinerary

Depart Auckland, bound for Santiago, Chile. Arrive Santiago and transfer to your inner city hotel for 2 nights. Welcome drinks tonight with your SportsLink International Tour Manager.

Half day guided city sightseeing today, including the Chilean History Museum, the famous Central Market and breathtaking views of the city and the majestic Andes Mountain range from San Cristobal Hill. Free afternoon to explore further.

What a treat today as we board our private coach and head through the Andes and across the border into Argentina. Mid afternoon check in to our centrally located hotel in beautiful Mendoza for 3 nights.

Mendoza is a city in the heart of Argentina’s wine country, famed for Malbecs and other red wines. Its many bodegas (wineries) offer tastings and tours. Enjoy the wide, leafy streets lined with modern and art deco buildings, and smaller plazas surrounding Plaza Independencia, on your half day sightseeing tour. Plenty of free time in the afternoon to perhaps indulge in what Mendoza is most famous for ……

Free morning before leaving the hotel to join kindred spirits at a local rugby club for a hearty lunch, a cerveza or two and lots of socialising Argentina-style, as we build up to attendance at today’s test match – the All Blacks vs Los Pumas.

Check out of the hotel and transfer to El Plumerillo Comodoro Airport for your flight through to Buenos Aires. Arrive Buenos Aires and check into your accommodation for the next 3 nights. Traditional dinner included tonight in the vibrant Puerto Madero area.

Locally guided sights today, visiting the main attractions of this modern metropolis as well as the diverse neighbourhoods of San Teimo, Puerto Madero, Recoleta and Palermo. Also visit Eva Peron’s grave, Diego Maradona’s ‘home’ at Boca Juniors FC, and integrate with a special group of rugby players at Botines Solidarios, a non profit organisation set up to promote human development and social inclusion through rugby

The group leaves the central city this morning and ventures into the countryside to spend the day at the Estancia Gaucho Ranch, where you’ll see these famous ‘cowboys’ showcase their horsemanship and ranch skills. Partake in a traditional fiesta and feast, before returning to the hotel to freshen up, dress up, and head out for an included Dinner & Tango show.

Depart this morning to catch your international ferry across the Rio de La Plata to Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Upon arrival, you will be taken on a guided walking tour of this historic city, known for its cobblestoned Barrio Histórico, lined with buildings from its time as a Portuguese settlement. After lunch, carry onto Montevideo, the capital, and check into your hotel for 2 nights.

Guided tour this morning, first visiting the Plaza de Constitution, with its prominent cathedral and colonial town hall. Then onto the magnificent Teatro Solis and Old City, with it’s famous Mercado del Puerto (Port Market). Free time to dine and explore further.

Last minute shoppin’n’selfies before saying Adios to Montevideo and Hola to Buenos Aires again, as we retrace our steps, via Colonia, to Argentina’s capital city and onto Ezeiza International Airport, and your flight back to New Zealand.
